Everton's star, Richarlison, explains why he almost left football: selling ice cream and growing peanuts

The road to the Premier League was not easy for Richarlison.

The striker is now committed to Everton and became one of the club's most expensive players when he arrived at Goodison Park this summer.

His climb to the top has continued ever since, while the 21-year-old has scored 12 goals and is looking to hold a regular spot in the Brazilian selection.

However, things have not always been so easy for Richarlison.

The striker went through difficult times early in his career, but he knows he has learned from each of them.

"Certainly," admitted Richarlison when asked when he had gone through difficult times in his life.

"It's certainly a lot easier to handle difficulties once you've already crossed them."

These difficult moments almost led Richarlison to leave football at one point.

When he was young, he was rejected after the test periods and put under pressure so that he could make money for his family in every way possible.

The striker added: "After my first attempts, I was 16 years old, I was always forced to pull my weight home.

"My mother wanted me to work and that I study, she put me under pressure to bring food and be part of the household.

"I was about to quit and find a job.

"I sold ice cream, I worked in a car wash and my grandfather had land and I helped him, he grew coffee and peanuts."

However, after deciding to pursue his dream of becoming a footballer, Richarlison considered the match as a way to escape effectively from the hard life that surrounded him.

"C & # 39; was [an escape]"said the Brazilian.

"All cities have lots of football pitches and, in a sense, they are a refuge.

"It was a drug loophole for many. I saw bundles of tickets in front of me, but it was good for me to have this escape and a police coach.

"He was a great example for me and helped me a lot."
