Everton's target, Rafael Leao, continued his impressive season Sunday by causing a dramatic comeback for Lille.

ECHO announced last week that the young Portuguese striker had been added to the list of candidates for the Blues game while Marco Silva and Marcel Brands were looking for quality additions.

The two teammates constantly talked about the importance of young players to develop their project at Goodison Park. At 19, Leao is perfect.

The striker has experienced an impressive form this season, scoring eight goals in 20 Ligue 1 games, the latest of which is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

The 19-year-old was left on the bench for Lille's visit to Nantes this weekend, with Christophe Galtier's team wanting to retain second place behind the Paris Saint-Germain leader.

However, the visitors found themselves 2-0 early in the second period, thanks to the successive strikes of Valentin Eysseric and Kalifa Coulibaly.

Lille brought Leao just before the hour of play to try to change the game, and Everton's target was quick to make an impact.

The striker scored in the 62nd minute, just three minutes after entering the game, to provoke what turned out to be a spectacular comeback for the visitors.

Lille continued on that goal with two others quickly taking over, Nicolas Pepe and Jonathan Bamba, to take a 3-2 lead in the 69th minute – and that's how the match stayed.

The French have been one of the surprise groups of the league this season, Leao being one of their most explosive talents.

The youngster is strong, fast and good finisher – which has led some to call him "Portuguese Mbappe".

Last summer, with the reported interest of Manchester City, the young striker was valued at £ 17m.
