Party prepared
Addressing the Daily Graphic regarding the party's preparations for the elections, the deputy party secretary-general, Peter Boamah Otukonor, said that all the necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure regular, free elections. and equitable, the result of which will be acceptable. to all.
"The party is ready for Saturday's elections. All the necessary party arrangements have been put in place. The EC is also ready. Saturday we will have our elections, "he told the Daily Graphic.
He stated that the entire electoral process would be led by the EC and supported by the Electoral Management Board of the constituency and its rulers.
He also revealed that the EC had taken over after the end of the printing of the ballot for later distribution in various regions and constituencies.
As part of the party's determination to hold a peaceful presidential primary, Prince Addo, a director at the party's headquarters, also said the party had decided to contact the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to to ensure adequate security for the seven full candidates, delegates and observers who would invade the various voting centers in the country.
"We have already met the Inspector General of Police, Mr. David Asante-Appeatu, and have developed the necessary formalities for the deployment of a sufficient number of police officers for the elections of Saturday", a- he declared.
According to Addo, the party had written to all members of the executive and leaders of all constituencies to comply with the security guidelines and give the police enough room to do their job.
He warned that any individual or group who might ignore the directive would do so at their own risk.
Other provisions
Addo said provisions were also made for voters who may not be in the country to vote.
"All external branches will have the opportunity to vote Saturday at the party headquarters. Nobody will be left out in this vote, "he said.
Police Notice
At the same time, the Ghanaian police have announced that they will not tolerate or allow any person or group of individuals to report under the guise of external security before, during and after the NDC presidential primary.
A statement signed by the Director General of the Police Public Affairs Branch, David Eklu, said that authorized persons who were within certain security parameters would not be spared.
The statement also indicated that no registered or unregistered motorcycle would be allowed in the various polling centers during and after the primary.
The police would only be responsible for all security structures in the different polling centers.
"The police are urging party members and the public to adhere to these guidelines to avoid confrontation," the statement said.
