Barring unforeseen circumstances, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, private lawyer, will be confirmed by Parliament and appointed special prosecutor by President Akufo-Addo in the coming days.
Mr. Agyebeng was unanimously recommended by the Parliament’s Appointments Committee and, if approved by the House, will replace Mr. Martin Amidu, who resigned from his post on November 16, 2020.

Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, the designated special prosecutor, was born on July 2, 1978.
He is originally from Nkwatia, Kwahu in the Eastern region, he is married and a Christian by faith.
Education
Mr. Agyebeng studied law at the Law School of the University of Ghana and was admitted to the Ghana Bar in October 2003, winning the EN Sowah Memorial Award for Best Student in Family Law.
He received the Bentsi-Enchill Award for Best Graduate Student from the University of Ghana Law School in 2001.
The candidate has successfully argued numerous cases in Ghana’s superior courts and participated in several international arbitration hearings.
Career
Mr. Agyebeng has been a Professor at the Law School of the University of Ghana since October 2006, teaching and researching criminal law, international humanitarian law, international law, corporate law and legal research and drafting. .
He has extensive expertise in advising public sector institutions including the Ministry of the Attorney General, Exim Bank Ghana Ltd., Youth Employment Authority, National Lottery Authority, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Trade Fair Company Limited and the Olympic Committee of Ghana.
He is also associated with the African Center for Cyber Law and Cybercrime Prevention, and National Mock Court Coordinator for the Commonwealth Moot Court Competition on International Criminal Justice.
He was vice-chairman of the Ghana Football Association’s Appeal Board.
Kissi Agyebeng is the Managing Partner of Cromwell Gray LLP, a reputable law firm in Accra, and the Chairman of the Electronic Communications Tribunal of Ghana, which is an appeals tribunal that sits on appeals from decisions or orders made by the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the ANC Dispute Resolution Committee.
