In his welcome address, the Western Region Minister who occupies the position of MP for the Takoradi constituency said that the state of Essipon Stadium reflected the current state of the sports economy in the western region.
He said the implementation of the 2016 Sports Act 934 in the Western Region is the structure on which the new sports economy could be built.
He expressed his confidence in the new Regional Sports Committee that took 21 days to organize this forum to gather ideas on how to achieve the vision that the West region is the best sports in Ghana. in terms of opportunities for talent development and economic contribution.
The 14 district sports units, as well as the regional sports committee, were inaugurated by the regional minister before Professor Thomas Twumasi, director general of the National Sports Authority, issued a message on behalf of the Sports Minister. He revealed that Essipon's rehabilitation work had been taken into account in Ghana's six-year renaissance plan, which would be launched in a few weeks by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
He instructed the participants to find a sustainable plan to have the desired impact of the Essipon stadium.
He congratulated Mr. Darko Mensah and praised the initiative to operationalize the 934 Sports Act of 2016 and recommended other regions to emulate this strategic move.
He also promised the full cooperation of the National Sports Authority to achieve the vision of the Sports Committee of the Western Region.
Magnus Rex Danquah, a member of the Sport Policy Review Committee and a consultant for the Sport Fund, wrote the key document, "Raising the Western Region's Sport Economy."

He was optimistic that participants after the event will have clearer goals, roles and objectives. The participants were grouped into six committees for the brainstorming session, namely: Strengthening sports professionalism and career guidance, technical development and district sports organization, schools and colleges Sports, sports development, infrastructure development and management services, organization and financing of regional sport.
The presentation of the working group and the discussions were very instructive, with Rex Danquah creatively guiding the process. At the end of the event, it was evident that the seed of excellence had been sown.
