Cudjoe said it fed the speech of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), which questioned the neutrality of European Commission President Jean Mensa.

The NDC eventually withdrew from the by-election following the shooting and ordered its polling agents and observers to leave the region after consulting with its parliamentary candidate, Delali Brempong.
Mr. Cudjoe also stated that the incident was a blot on President Nana Akufo-Addo, under whose government a new Yaa-Naa was locked up in Dagbon.
"It is an indictment and security has also dishonored the president. Last week he was in Dagbon doing something noble, but suddenly, someone should do this useless action.
In his view, national security had to admit its role in escalating tensions during the by-election.
