Fabinho eased fears of a defensive crisis in Liverpool by resuming light training.
This is great news for boss Jurgen Klopp, as his Premier League Reds will face a crucial Premier League clash with Leicester next week, with no crisis or a recognized right-back.
James Milner, coach of Anfield, has suspended the match for next Wednesday, and Trent Alexander Arnold, Joe Gomez and even the young Ki-Jana Hoever are worried.
Fabinho missed the game against Crystal Palace last weekend due to fear of a serious hamstring injury. Only Rafael Camacho, 18, who is really a winger, could replace the defender.
But the Liverpool doctors are very hopeful that Fabinho will be able to play once the Reds return to England after their warm-weather training camp in Dubai.
The 24-year-old Brazilian is the first choice of Brazil's right-back after playing for much of his career before being converted back into central midfield by his previous club, Monaco.
And it is understood that he went through a rehabilitation session with physios in Dubai to take his first steps towards fitness in time for the Leicester match.
Liverpool will take care of his return cautiously, but are confident that the injury was not as bad as expected. His availability would be a major badet for Klopp, who hopes to stay four points ahead of Manchester City tops the standings.
Midfielder Gini Wijnaldum will be able to return, allowing Fabinho to play at the back.
This would solve Liverpool's immediate injury problems. Alexander-Arnold should be back for the trip to West Ham one week Monday.
Gomez could be ready from here too.
The young English international should resume training in the coming days, which would give him a chance to be available to face the Hammers.
Milner will also be back after serving a ban on a red card match caused by two punitive fouls against Palace.
* LIVERPOOL accepted the conditions to sign the French junior international, 16-year-old Billy Koumetio, who was previously in a school internship in Lyon. The defender, who had a trial with the Reds in November, will join his academy on the side of League 2, the US Orleans.
