Former Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro has been named China's new head coach, succeeding Marcello Lippi.
Cannavaro, 45, a defender of former Parma, Real Madrid and Juventus, who won the World Cup in 2006, will continue to manage the Chinese Super League club, Guangzhou Evergrande.
Lippi, who resigned after China's quarter-final draw at the Asian Cup in January, will remain on the job as an advisor.
The first game of Cannavaro is against Thailand in the China Cup on March 21st.
