Face the bandits, terrorists, leave Nnamdi Kanu and Igboho alone – Afenifere tells Buhari

Yoruba socio-political organization Afenifere has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop chasing those who campaign for self-determination in Nigeria.

Afenifere said agitators like Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu were the product of the Buhari government’s failure to meet the needs of Nigerians.

Jare Ajayi, spokesperson for Afenifere, said Buhari should focus on tackling banditry and terrorism, rather than attacking Igboho and Kanu.

Reacting to Buhari’s show on Independence Day, where he said the sponsors of Kanu and Igboho had been identified, Ajayi said: self-determination.

“The phenomenon of Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu in terms of the desire of their own nations is the result of the failure of the Nigerian state to respond adequately to Nigerians.

“If the insecurity and social dislocation in the country ends, the agitation for separate nations will stop.

“The picture drawn by President Buhari of Nigeria is at odds with what is on the ground. “

Kanu is locked up by the Department of State Services, DSS, because of his agitation for Biafra.

Igboho, for his part, is being held by Beninese security agents.

He was arrested in Cotonou while trying to get to Germany.
