The Election Commission (EC) has denied claims that data from the just ended general election was erased from biometric verification devices (BVD).

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), in one of its press conferences, claimed that a directive had been sent to commission offices nationwide to deactivate BVDs, destroying evidence relating to voters verified for general elections.

But, in a statement on Friday, December 18, 2020, the commission called the allegations “false.”

The committee further explained that it had carefully preserved and backed up all electronic and physical records and data relating to the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

“It is therefore unfortunate that the NDC continues to make such misleading allegations,” the commission said.

Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama doubles down on his refusal to accept the result of the general election which has just ended.

This follows his meeting with a Commonwealth team regarding the elections that took place on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Mahama and the NDC dismissed poll results described by the ECOWAS election observation mission in the country as peaceful, free, transparent and credible.

He briefed the Commonwealth team, led by its Secretary General, Rt Hon Patricia Scotland. The former president is believed to have married the team, which is why he rejected the idea of ​​conceding defeat in the election.
