According to prosecutors, on February 21, 2019, the hospital 's medical superintendent wrote to the Council of Nurses and Midwives of Ghana that Francis Anaafo, who used the name Simon Yaw Woli, was underperforming, and that he was not. it should be the subject of an investigation.
After receiving this letter, Anaafo was invited to the Council's headquarters in Accra, where he was invited to present his registration certificate, results bulletin and national logbook.
After reviewing the documents, counsel found that Anaafo had fraudulently used the name of Mr. Simon Yaw Woli, a qualified nurse practitioner, to obtain an excerpt from the event stating that his certificate, his report card results and his logbook were missing.
Anaafo fraudulently obtained a duplicate of Mr. Woli's certificate with the extract and presented it to the National Service Secretariat (SNS) to register for the 2018 National Service.
The SSN then badigned Anaafo to the Goaso Municipal Hospital, where he began his service in September 2018.
During investigations, the Board's Intelligence and Discipline Department contacted professional nurse Simon Yaw Woli, who held his original RGN certificate and results bulletin.
Woli, revealed that he and Anaafo had started nursing training at the College of Nursing and Midwifery Training College of Sekondi, in the Western Region, in August 2013. However, in 2015, Anaafo was demoted and then fired from school for non-performance.
Officials of the intelligence and disciplinary services of the Council, with the help of the airport police, then arrested Anaafo on March 15, 2019 and brought it to court.
Caution
A statement signed by the clerk of council, Mr. Felix Nyante, warned that such conduct was punishable by law and that the supervisory body would not tolerate such conduct.
"The council needs to strengthen the links around practitioners and people seeking to practice the profession of nurse and midwife in the country on the basis of the possession of false documents," he said.
The council also called on health facility, training institution, media and general public officials to report any suspicious and unprofessional conduct of practitioners to the board so that the necessary regulatory action is taken.
