The families of the three abducted girls threatened to participate in a protest outside the West Regional Police Command if the police did not provide concrete results on the girls' investigation by 22 February 2019.

At a press conference held in Diabene with families, taxi drivers and Queen-Mother residents, Micheal Hayford Grant asked the police command to appoint an officer from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) who would have helped the escape of the main suspect.

The only suspect in custody, Samuel Udoetuk Wills, allegedly was behind the kidnapping of three girls in the western region, a problem that occurred between August and December 2018.

Samuel Udoetuk Wills is currently in custody in Accra after being broken prison and being hidden. He was later arrested in Nkroful, near Takoradi.

It did not provide a location for abducted girls.

He has been brought to justice and faces three charges, including the evasion of legal custody, the destruction of public property and resistance to the rearguard.

Nana Adwoa Quayson, the sister of one of the victims, Rita Quayson, is unhappy that the judge has not summoned a parade of judicial police officers to allow the suspect to identify the person who helped him escape from his legal detention.

According to her, since the suspect had admitted that he could identify the said IDC officer, it was imperative that the judge issue an order in this regard instead of asking the suspect to produce his witness.

"Regional Command has formed a team of investigators led by Deputy Regional Crime Officer, Alhaji Fuseini. We take statements from anyone recognized as being related to the abduction and people on duty at the time of the escape to reach the truth, "she said.
