Saddick Amoah, a 23-year-old salesman at a Fan Milk depot in Ashaiman, has been taken to court for betting on the sales of his business.

According to a report seen by YEN.com.gh on Ghanaweb.com, Saddick Amoah would have used 7,000 GHC on the sales he had made during the day to place a bet.

According to reports, he intended to win the bet, put the 7,000 GHC back into the company’s coffers, and keep the profits for himself.

Mrs. Thelma Bortey, the depot manager indicated that she had taken the matter to the police station after detecting a certain shortage in sales.

She added that Saddick couldn’t account for the money when checking their accounts and refused to answer her calls whenever she asked for an explanation of the missing money.

The police therefore invited Saddick Amoah to the police station for an investigation into the missing money.

It was at the train station that he confessed to using the money to place an online bet in the hope of making a profit but ended up losing all the money.

Superintendent Afrifa Akwasi said Saddick Amoah was employed by someone at Fan Milk depot as a salesperson responsible for accepting payments for purchases made.

The officer said that towards the end of January 2021 Saddick was asked to report on sales but he was still hesitant.

Saddick finally opened up and said he was using the money to bet with the hope of winning but luck was not on his side.

The case is currently in court, but at the first hearing Saddick did not admit his wrongdoing.

The court therefore set his bond at 10,000 GHC and asked whoever was willing to release him.

Saddick’s case has been adjourned until March 3, 2021, where he would reappear in court to explain himself.
