Cristiano Ronaldo finds playing in empty stadiums amid the Covid-19 pandemic ‘boring’ and even missing fans booing him.
The Juventus and Portugal star, like all other top footballers, has gotten used to playing in empty stands in 2020.
And the 35-year-old, who was named Player of the Century at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Sunday night, admitted he was thirsty not only for the cheers he gets from fans, but also for abuse.

“For me I have to be honest, playing in an empty stadium is boring in my opinion,” he said.
“We, the players, follow all protocol and health is the most important thing of all, of course, but I don’t like it being honest.
“I do it primarily because I love football. My passion is still football. I play for my family, my kids, my friends, the fans. But I don’t like it, to be honest it’s so weird.
“I like when people boo Cristiano. When I touch the ball, they boo. I love it.
“ I hope that in 2021 they can change the rules and that we can see the stadiums full of people. ”
Ronaldo got used to playing in empty stands during a tough 2020
Ronaldo racked up personal accolades after winning Golden Foot last week
Ronaldo added another individual award to his collection by beating Lionel Messi at the Player of the Century award.
It comes after receiving the Golden Foot Award, first introduced in 2003, for players aged 28 or older who can only be won once in their careers.
Although we are only 20 years into the 21st century, Ronaldo has taken the honor with Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola named Coach of the Century.
Ronaldo’s former club Real Madrid have won the Club of the Century after winning five Champions League titles and seven La Liga crowns since 2000.
And Portuguese star Jorge Mendes’ agent won the Agent of the Century award.
