Stephen Yikeyir needs the GHS 34 883. 46 to have surgery on the spine
Stephen Yikeyir, a 56-year-old farmer from Navrongo, in the Far East region, is seeking help from the public to help him collect 34,883 GHS. 46 for a spinal operation at the Korle Bu University Hospital in Accra.
Mr. Yikeyir, originally from Nandom in the Upper West but residing in Navrongo, was diagnosed with a medical condition called lumbosacral spondylosis at Korle Bu University Hospital in February and would cost 34,883 GHS. 46 for surgery.
The farmer, who has five dependents: a wife and four daughters, was sick for the first time in August 2018 and was hospitalized at Tamale University Hospital before being transferred to Korle Bu University Hospital earlier this year, where he was diagnosed with the disease of the spine.
Although the doctors advised that the operation be done as soon as possible to get him to walk properly again, Mr. Yikeyir and his family say they have exhausted all their resources and are now down.
Unable to raise the amount in question, Mr. Yikeyir has returned home and is now supported by his wife and daughters, in the hope that he will be able to raise funds through benevolence of the society.
He is currently unable to stand straight or walk straight, he can only raise his upper body to a noticeable level and slide his feet.
The family is calling on the general public to help them with cash donations.
