A 30-year-old spiritualist, Mawuli Ayitey, was remanded by Assin Fosu District Court for allegedly luring his friend Kwasi Bukari into the bush for the murder.

The spiritualist whose appeal was not retained will reappear before the Court chaired by Mr. Djanie Quartey on Thursday, March 28 this year.

Inspector Gilbert Anyongo said the defendants had lured the deceased into a bush in Assin Bereku, North Assin District, on Sunday, March 17, and shot him without provocation.

He added that while the accused was burying the body in a hurry, he was seen by a plaintiff (undisclosed identity) who reported the case to the police who led to the arrest of Mawuli.

Moreover, Ebenezer Owusu Ansah, a 19-year-old high school business student at Assin Manso High School (SHS), drowned on Saturday, March 23 in the Okye River, near the community, while he was attempting to swim.

The student, originally from Kasoa, would have gone out with his friends on the side of the river where the sad incident occurred.

Mr. Derick Owusu Ambrose, District Director of South Assin (DCE), confirmed the tragedy at the Ghana News Agency.

He added that the body had since been dropped off at the Abura Dunkwa government hospital morgue to allow the police to continue their investigations.

The police, however, refused to talk to the media about this, explaining that investigations were ongoing.
