Adam Natomah, a 60-year-old farmer, reportedly shot his wife on Sunday in Jinfrono, Gonja district, in the northern part of the northern region.
Adam Nantomah also shot himself in the neck after committing the crime.
His wife, confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital, has since been buried according to Islamic customs.
Meanwhile, Adam Nantomah is fighting for his life after being taken to the West Gonja District Hospital.

An eyewitness shared his account with 3news.com over the phone.
Adam Mohammed said that Adam Nantomah had behaved abnormally for a year and threatened his wife and even his children with killing them.
Adam then explained: "One of the victim's children grabbed the father's weapon and kept it in his possession until the father asked to work there."
"He took the pistol, loaded it with bullets on the blind side of his son and timed the woman who had picked up her clothes, including hers, and who was washing. He pulled the woman into the ribs without any provocation.
The neighbors, after hearing the shots, went home and met Salamatu Nantomah, 43, who was fighting for his life.
"Adams shot his wife and quickly reloaded the pistol, pointed it on his neck and shot, falling into the process but was rushed to West Gonja hospital in Damongo with the body of his woman by a patrol [but] the woman was declared dead by the hospital staff on duty. "
Information gathered from West Gonja Hospital indicates that Adams Nantomah was transferred to Tamale University Hospital for a thorough medical examination.
His only locally made gun was recovered by the police.
