Fauna Bio raises $ 4.1 million in seed money

Logo Fauna BioWildlife BioA biotechnology company based in Berkeley, California, exploiting the science of hibernation to improve human health care, raised $ 4.1 million in seed funding.

The round was led by True Ventures with the participation of the longevity fund and Pacific 8 Ventures, Boom Capital and Beagle Ventures.

The company will use these new funds to expand its discovery platform to find new therapeutic targets for human diseases.

Co-founded by Drs. Ashley Zehnder, Linda Goodman and Katharine Grabek, Fauna Bio provides a drug discovery platform whose first version focuses on hibernating mammals for adaptation-based therapies. Hibernating animals have natural adaptations, providing information on critical human health issues such as Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, osteoporosis, obesity / diabetes and trauma.
