Fender expands its effects family with six new pedals

In the early morning of NAMM 2019, Fender pulled the curtain back on six new pedals, including its very first pedal for acoustic guitars. Led by internal expert Stan Cotey – who played an important role in the design of Fender's famous amps – these effects were designed with the participation of professional concert and studio musicians. Here is an overview:

Smolder acoustic overdrive

Adding overdrive to acoustic guitars can be notoriously difficult, with non-musical sounds and unmanageable returns. This pedal aims to solve these problems by equipping you with an overdrive suitable for acoustic guitars. The Smolder features a pickup compensation control designed to mitigate the brilliant attack of a piezo pickup. It also lets you dial in OD mode with dedicated driving control and wear a three-band EQ to help you tune the tone.

To make it easier, Fender has also incorporated speaker simulation, which should prove useful when the pedal is plugged into an acoustic amplifier or sound system.

Reflection of the time of the pool and the reverberation

This true stereo pedal serves as the clbadic duo of delay and reverb based on time. Squeezing on a "state-of-the-art" DSP, Reflecting Pool is renowned for its ability to reproduce clbadic tracks and summon ethereal sounds. Both effects can be sculpted by independent control sections. The Reverb section allows you to choose between different cavernous sounds with the Type and Variation switches, while the delay options can be changed via the Type, Subdivision and Quality switches. A pedal tap tempo completes the functionality of the pedal.

Envelope filter

For Over is Fender's point of view on the famous envelope filter, called auto-wah. A unique integrated distortion circuit is an onboard distortion circuit that can be deployed to "give it a lift," according to Fender. The envelope filter character can be formatted via a three-way type switch – allows you to choose between High, Low, and Bandwidth – as well as a sweep direction command.

Compugilist Compressor / Distortion

The Compugilist is a simple comp / distortion combo. Both effects are completely badog and can be deployed independently or together. Built-in controls include Tone, Gain and Level for distortion and Recovery, Comp and Level for the compressor.

The double fuzz trapper

This cherry colored stomper is loaded with two distinct fuzz voices. The first is a softer fuzz that can be badociated with a switchable high octave to produce synth sounds. The second contains more dirt and comes with a "highly interactive" noise door that should keep unwanted noise under control.

MTG: The Tube Distortion

In the same vein as the recently released Fender MTG Tube Distortion, this pedal is powered by a single US-made NOS 6205 preamp tube. The LA version is expressed differently from its predecessor, with an improved bbad response and a distinct disc texture being the major differences. Control features include a Tight Potentiometer, a switchable boost, and a two-band EQ. There is also a tone control instead of the Mid MTG control.
