WASHINGTON, Feb. 6 – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV yesterday announced the recall of 882,000 vans worldwide in two recalls to solve steering and pedal problems.
The Italian-American automaker announced that it was recalling about 660,000 pickups Ram 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty model year 2013 to 2017, including 574,000 in the United States, as drivers could experience a loss of control .
A nut could loosen and prevent drivers from being able to steer the vehicle, Fiat Chrysler said, adding that it had been reported an injury and eight accidents potentially related to the problem.
The company will also be recalling 222,000 Ram 1500 2019 vans worldwide to better secure the brake pedals when the vehicle's adjustable pedal function is used.
The brake pedal could come off if the drivers moved the pedals furthest to the rear, the company said. This could be dangerous if the trucks are traveling at high speed.
Last month, Fiat Chrysler recalled about 180,000 Ram 1500 2019 in order to tighten a tie related to information reporting a loss of power steering. Fiat Chrysler said the problem could lead to steering problems. – Reuters
