Governance professor at Central University, Dr Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to tackle corrupt practices and the hardships Ghanaians face under his administration.
The president has been riddled with criticism, especially from the opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
NDC national communications official Sammy Gyamfi, speaking at a press conference in Accra on Monday, said Ghanaians were fed up with the president and his government, therefore aspiring to throw them out of power.
He made this comment in support of certain allegations made by the 2020 NDC presidential candidate, ex-president John Dramani Mahama against the ruling New Patriotic Party and their leader, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, during his “Merci” tour.
“Former President Mahama echoed the sentiments of the vast majority of Ghanaians who feel scandalized by the rampant corruption and outright theft that have become the hallmark of the Akufo-Addo / Bawumia NPP government.
“The alarming case of corruption under this government is such that Ghanaians cannot wait to demand responsibility for taking action in eliminating the NPP after their eight-year term in 2024,” said Sammy Gyamfi.
Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”, Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah corroborated the allegations of hardship and corruption characterizing the Akufo-Addo administration.
According to him, Ghanaians are really facing many difficulties, most of them with living conditions that are deteriorating day by day.
For him, the president must sit down and meet the challenges of the Ghanaians in order to alleviate the difficulties.
He said; “Let’s see a drastic improvement because when you do the same thing all the time you get the same results. We need to change our ways… do something that will allow people to admit that things have changed… Government needs to be seen. to fight corruption. The government must fight it; we need to fight corruption like we fight COVID. “
“Let’s do something different because when you do ordinary things you get ordinary results but we want to get extraordinary results,” he added.
