Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George is lashing out at singer Sister Derby following her comments on the LGBTQ + bill on social media.
The MP has come under attack after indicating his determination with other lawmakers to secure passage of the bill to criminalize LGBTQ +.
He said: “I have seen attacks by a few thugs aligned with a political inclination based on my leadership in the PMB against LGBTQI + people in Ghana. Bow your head in shame. Nothing would prevent this bill from being passed by the House. Take your perversion and let me tell my truth, ”Sam George posted on his Twitter page Thursday.
Commenting on the post on Friday, Ghanaian singer and model Sister Derby accused the MP of being full of perversion while describing him as a backward thinker.
“You are rather full of perversion. So obsessed with people’s sexual orientation. Shame on you, backward thinker, ”Sister Derby commented.
In a response, Sam George asked Sister Derby to figure out what kind of music she can do to be successful before the conversation about LGBTQ + can continue.
“Hopefully when you figure out what kind of music you can be successful in, we can have a conversation that looks to the future. Until then say hello to AMG Medikal for me. Well done, ”the message read.
Meanwhile, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has said Ghana’s 8th Parliament will pass the LGBTQI + bill which aims to criminalize homosexuality.
Once adopted, offenders could be jailed for up to 10 years.
