Final of the Carabao Cup: Laporte awaits Chelsea's challenge

Aymeric Laporte thinks Chelsea is a "great team" and has warned Manchester City not to expect another win in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

City, leader of the Premier League, goes to Wembley in the group of favorites, having beaten the Londoners 6-0 less than fifteen days ago.

The lime casts doubt on the future of Maurizio Sarri and the pressure on the Blues boss has increased after a disappointing defeat against Manchester United.

Critics criticized the Italian for his tough tactical choices, but central defender City, Laporte, rejected the view that the Etihad Stadium result should be repeated.

"I think people are wrong," Laporte said at Manchester Evening News.

"Their results recently have not been good, but they have an excellent team, excellent players and they have shown that they know how to play good football.

"They have an excellent team and we have to focus on ourselves, do our things well and hopefully.

"All games we have between now and the end of the season are finals, we will try to win them all and reach our goals."

"We are expecting a very difficult game, very physical and we have to play at our best if we want to win."

City is full of confidence after extending their five-game winning streak in Schalke's 3-2 win in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's players received a boost on Friday with 24-year-old Laporte, who has agreed to a two-year contract extension, which ties him to the club until 2025.
