Ahmed Hussein-Suale
President Nana Akufo-Addo runs a long list of tributes condemning the horrific badbadination of the murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, collaborator of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The president, civil society groups and Ghanaians expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased and asked the police to punish as soon as possible the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
Message from President Akufo-Addo
"I learned with sadness the murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, collaborator of the investigative journalist Anas.
"I condemn the act unreservedly and offer my condolences to his family.
"I expect the police to commit the perpetrators of this heinous crime as soon as possible. Once again, my sincere condolences, "said President Akufo-Addo.
Tiger Eye PI mourning Hussein-Suale
Investigators from the private investigation firm Tiger Eye PI say they are overwhelmed with grief after the shocking murder of a member of their team, Ahmed.
Key partner of investigative journalist Anas, Ahmed was shot dead Wednesday by strangers in Madina, a suburb of Accra, while he was driving home.
He was hit twice in the chest and once in the neck. Police reports say that he died instantly.
The Tiger Eye PI team said in a statement that it sympathized with Ahmed's family for this painful loss and prayed that Allah give them the strength to bear the grief.
However, they added in their statement that they were "terribly devastated by this despicable act, but remained unwavering in our determination to pursue the nation's destroyers and to make corruption a high-risk activity in the country" .
"We call security agencies to unmask the elements behind this murder and bring them to justice," the statement said.
The government condemns the heinous badbadination of Ahmed
Similarly, the government condemned the horrible murder of Ahmed.
At a press conference in Accra, the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, said the government condemned this heinous and barbarous act.
"We are aware that the police have opened an investigation into this incident. However, we urge security agencies to speed up their investigations and bring the perpetrators to account. Violence against media professionals and journalists must not be tolerated, "he added.
Nkrumah, on behalf of the government, expressed his sincere condolences to the victim's family, to the organization for which he worked and to the media fraternity in general.
Ahmed is one of the undercover investigators of the Tiger Eye PI whose photographs were distributed on Net2 TV by Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, in his crusade to denounce what he has described as corrupt practices of Anas.
While posting the photographs, the MP called on members of the public to hit Ahmed and added that he would bear the financial costs.
He added that Ahmed was mean and had to be beaten when he went to the premises of his company.
Although there was no link between the MP's call for violence and Wednesday night's murder, some Ghanaians used social media to severely criticize the controversial MP.
I did not kill Ahmed, it does not matter in my life – Kennedy Agyapong
In response to criticism, Agyapong has moved away from Ahmed 's death.
According to him, he does not understand why he would organize the killing of a person who would not be relevant in his life.
The MP said that he is well placed and will win nothing if he was to take the life off the investigator.
"The guy did not offend me in any way. When I was doing the first part of "Who watch the watchman", someone told me that I knew him because I had already given him some money for his tuition. So I told my staff to no longer let him in my building because he's a bad boy and that if he showed up, they should hit him because he'll come secretly install cameras in the building.
"That's what I said. This boy is not relevant for my life. This boy is irrelevant to my life. Why should I be stupid and order people to kill him by looking to where God has brought me? He did not offend me anyway. They should look for those who might be behind this heinous act. This is just cheap propaganda.
"I do not live a low life. I am focused in everything I do, which is why I am very strong when I discuss. I do not compromise on anything. Ahmed did not do anything because I am not one of the people he created, "he added.
Responding to concerns that he would need to be asked by the police about circumstances that may have led to the badbadination of the Tiger Eye member, the lawmaker declared himself ready to meet the police because he did not cause any harm.
"I hear people wanting the police to ask me questions. Why should the police invite me and question me? I am not afraid of anyone. The police should come; I will play the video again. I do not have time for Ahmed. They just dodge the question.
"I do not plead evil because the evil that men do is after them. Anas and his team know the bad things they did and the enemies they created and I'm definitely not one. For me, I just wanted to expose Anas for people to know that he's also corrupt, and that's exactly what I've done.
"He walked on the feet of many people. So, if thorough investigations are not carried out and they rather accuse me of killing the gentleman, they dodge. The very people who committed the crime will be released, "he said.
But Anas 'lawyer, Kissi Agyebeng, called for Agyapong' s interrogation following the murder of Ahmed, a key partner of the journalist.
Agyebeng said the public's incitement against Ahmed at the Assin Central Parliamentary Assembly can not be ignored when investigations are opened on the murder.
"He invited the world to hit him and said that he was going to pay for it and now he [Ahmed] was killed … he has questions to answer.
Agyebeng said that for strategic reasons, he could not disclose the next plan of action for Anas and his PI Tiger Eye team, except that they certainly enhanced security.
He added that Ahmed's family had been informed of his death.
GJA and NMC demand justice for Ahmed
The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the National Media Commission have called for a thorough and appropriate investigation into the murders and murders of Ahmed.
The groups urged the police to urgently initiate a thorough investigation into the killing of Ahmed and to ensure that the murderers are subject to the law.
They also urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to be personally interested in the issue until justice is done and the members of parliament to take the necessary steps to create a sense of security in the media and the media. in the population.
At a press conference in Accra, Mr. Roland Affail Monney, president of the GJA, said: "The unknown badailants took nothing away from Ahmed, with the exception of his life, giving him two bullets in the chest and one in the neck at close range. "
He added that it was not the first time that journalists were murdered in cold blood, recalling the murder of the former president of the Ashanti regional branch of the GJA, Samuel Ennin, who was shot dead in February. 2007.
It was King George Abanga, Peace FM correspondent in Goaso on September 16, 2016, and journalist Portia Ama Agyeiwaa of the local Bekwai radio station, who was stabbed to death in April 2018.
"These killings, in addition to the widespread aggression against journalists in recent times, alarmingly signal that the media are seriously under attack at a time when civility and the rule of law should reign over thoughts and the actions of our society, "he said. .
Affail Monney urged journalists not to be intimidated by killings or any other circumstance that could undermine the fulfillment of their constitutional mandate to serve the public interest.
Mr. Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafo, chairman of the National Media Commission, said that the crime committed against the investigative journalist was a double danger: his freedom was reduced and his freedom of expression undermined.
He called on journalists to work together to let the world know that they would resist anything of this nature because human life is precious.
Everywhere, injustice everywhere is injustice, he said, and urged journalists to think objectively about all situations encountered in the performance of their duties.
Mr. Boadu-Ayeboafo asked the police to invite anyone suspected of being badociated with the crime, including Assin Central MP, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, who publicly urged the public to attack fire the late Ahmed him.
He added that he thought no one could applaud what had happened, whether from a political or social point of view, adding that "we must all question the abominable action that took place ".
Mr. Boadu-Ayeboafo asked the police to enlighten citizens on the need to note the registration numbers, as well as other features, vehicles and suspects whenever they witnessed a crime or an accident.
"It's serious if we can not describe what happened, because the way the police can apprehend criminals is not magic, but because some members of the public have collaborated to support the security apparatus . "
Mr Sammy Darko, a member of the Tiger Eye PI team's legal team, called on all journalists and the public to support the fight against crime in the country, saying: "Today He is part of the Tiger Eye team; tomorrow, it could be you.
The badbadination instead prompted the team to conduct more serious investigations to promote national development, he added.
Ahmed was a Muslim and would receive a burial worthy of what religion would require, he noted.
MFWA condemns murder
The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) learned with shock that the badbadination of Ahmed by unknown badailants.
"The MFWA strongly condemned the killing and called on the police to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into the incident in order to bring the perpetrators to justice," he added.
