The firefighters of Nkoranza, in the Bono – Est area, reportedly attacked local Dero FM radio reporters on Monday during a joke in April.

According to reports in another local radio station, naagyei fm, Dero fm, which belongs to the Deputy Defense Minister, Major Derick Oduro, has repeatedly reported a fatal accident Monday morning, forcing fire services to settle on the premises.

As a result, the firefighters quickly mobilized their equipment and rushed to the scene of the accident to realize that it was a joke made by the station to their listeners on Monday, April 1, under the pseudonym Day April Fool's Day.

Firefighters, who were angry following the incident, reportedly stormed the station and beat staff on the air, also destroying equipment.

The deputy minister confirmed the story in an interview with the local channel.

"About six firefighters stormed the offices and started brutalizing the staff and destroying equipment in the studio. The unfortunate incident has been reported to the police and we hope that action will be taken. We will not allow this matter to be settled, we will take it to its logical conclusion. The attack on the media lately is too important and we can not allow that to happen. The law must work at all times, "he said.

He added, "If I did not have a leadership and that as Deputy Minister of Defense, I also organized soldiers to attack fire officers." what would have happened? But the law does not allow it. I even expected the commander of the Nkoranza fire department to call and apologize on behalf of his officers, but nothing of the sort was done. I am told that he defends them on the radio instead. We will see how the law will follow its course.
