An estimated 80 stalls were burned after the fire that swept the Odorna Market, otherwise known as the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Pedestrian Mall in Accra on Wednesday night.

No deaths or injuries were recorded. However, according to eyewitnesses, large quantities of goods belonging to various traders were lost, while the firefighters had to cope with the raging fire.

The cause of the fire remains to be determined.

A similar fire devastated the market on July 24, 2013, also on a Wednesday and after the traders had closed for the day and locked, making access to the firefighters difficult.
