Firefighters assail journalists after an April fool

The National Fire Service (GNFS) reportedly stormed a local radio station and
subjected journalists and sports reporters to severe beatings.

The atmosphere at Dero
FM radio station based in Nkoranza in the newly created Bono East area, the
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered was crowded as people rushed to take
overview of the scene.

But the intervention

Seven presenters and
the station's journalists were brutally badaulted by uniformed firefighters when
the incident occurred around 10:30.

The six lights approximately
the staff would have caused significant damage to some studio and other machines
properties at the station.

GNA investigations
revealed that the firefighters action was following a distress call from the
received from the radio station that became April 1,
"prank call".

A caller has earlier
phone at the sports show and set off a false alarm about a fatal accident
this happened on the Nkoranza-Donkro-Nwanta road in the municipality.

Because of the impact
and the fatality of the alleged crash, the radio station could not cross
further and then relay the information to the firing command that rushed
staff on the premises.

Arriving at the scene,
the firefighters discovered all that they lived was a
"stuffing", and exasperated by the false alarm, they stormed the station
and spread their anger on the reporters.
