The First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo, called for greater integration of alternative and conventional medicines into the health care system in order to improve the effectiveness of medical treatments for all people.
She added that it was also necessary to create an accessible health system using conventional medicine, homeopathy and safe alternative remedies and well-researched in the near future.
Speaking at the commissioning of the new Nature's Cure Center, a division of the Impact Diagnostic Center in Accra, Akufo-Addo said that alternative medicine has a lot to offer the country because it continues bring great benefits to communities.
"What we need to do is try to contribute and share the best of alternative medicine as an alternative and complementary system, and strive to continue the integration of conventional and alternative medicine, for the ultimate benefit of all, "she said.
According to Akufo-Addo, while alternative drug treatments, such as homeopathy, were popular in the 20th century, the many benefits directly related to this practice had sparked a wave of interest, with more and more people who use alternative medicine as a supplement to orthodox medicine.
She said that although alternative medicines have been regularly criticized, its proven efficacy in treating many diseases has required attracting more followers.
She expressed optimism that with the establishment of the Directorate of Traditional and Alternative Medicine at the Ministry of Health, to guide the practice in Ghana, more Ghanaians would feel comfortable with it. resort to homeopathy and conventional medications.
"Health facilities such as LEKMA, the Police Hospital, Komfo Anokye and La Polyclinic have launched pilot projects integrating alternative medicine with conventional medicine," said the First Lady.
This is why she congratulated the Nature's Cure Center for the creation of the site and for its determination to build confidence in homeopathy as an alternative medicine, through responsible and professional practice.
She said the measure is in line with the government's goal of providing comprehensive and safe health services to Ghanaians.
Aku Sika Bediako, General Manager of the Impact Group and Diagnostic Center, Opticians Dashen and Nature's Cure, said the center had many homeopathic specialists trained in the administration of alternative medicine to conventional medicine.
She urged the public not to hesitate to use services to improve their well-being.
