First lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo
First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo is expected to launch the Free-to-Shine campaign today, Thursday, January 24, 2019, in collaboration with the Ghana AIDS Commission in Accra.
The Free-to-Shine campaign aims to improve access to quality antenatal care services, including HIV testing, antiretroviral therapy for HIV positive testing, and ongoing monitoring of mother and baby. .
The launch focuses on the theme: Preventing Mother-to-Child Transmission: The Key to a Generation Without HIV and the Preservation of Living Mothers.
In 2017, UNAIDS appointed Ms. Akufo-Addo as Prime Minister's Ambbadador to Ghana for Advocacy for HIV, Eliminating HIV Transmission from Mother to Child and Rescue mothers to achieve the goals of UNAIDS 90-90-90 for 2020.
