Fitbit Versa Lite sales were "weaker than expected"

This gap once again left Fitbit dependent on fitness trackers. About 68% of its revenues came from products launched in the past year, of which only one (the Versa Lite) was a smart watch. And that's a problem when the revenues have not improved much. Fitbit had to sell 31% more devices, or 3.5 million in total, to add $ 14.3 million in additional revenue. The outlook for the company is therefore moderate: it is expected to generate $ 50 million less in revenue in 2019.

More importantly, the shortfall resulted in a change in strategy. Fitbit said it would move its product launches "to the benefit of innovation rather than value". In other words, he will not try to use less expensive hardware, such as Versa Lite, as aggressively.

You can see that coming. The Lite officially costs only $ 40 less than the clbadic Versa, but it removes useful features such as altimeter, gyroscope, local music storage and even WiFi. When the standard Versa is already relatively inexpensive, at $ 199, there is little incentive to choose the Lite, unless you get a discount. If not, why not just buy a fitness tracker and save even more money?
