Five children out of 76 deaths from Vic flu

Five children are among the 76 people who died after catching the flu in Victoria this year for a longer season than usual.

Sixty-one people in institutions, 10 adults and five children have had influenza-related deaths this year, according to the latest figures from the health department.

Since the beginning of the season in January, more than 40,000 people have been diagnosed with the flu in Victoria, said a spokesperson at AAP on Wednesday.
