Five key statistics show how Everton FC dominated West Ham

Everton's resurgence at the end of the season continued with one of their best performances of the season against an out-of-atmosphere West Ham United.

The hammers were they poor? Yes. Was Everton fit? Yes.

But what do the performance figures tell us? Is this performance of Everton a sign of things to come or just another dawn?

Here are five key stats from the match at London Stadium as reported by the Royal Blue Mersey.

The score 2-0 does not flatter Everton. On the contrary, it could have – and probably should have become a drubbing four or five draws.

Everton scored West Ham's goal with shots, recording 17 shots against West Ham's three villains. Of these nine Everton attempts, the shot was more effective than the hammers.

Everton's wide play was masterful, but it seems odd that Marco Silva needed the best part of the last seven months to see that Bernard and Richarlison are Everton's best wingers. Although he still does not seem to understand that Lookman is as good as Walcott, the future at Everton should soon be questioned.

No more misery … for West Ham

The good news is that it was Everton who operated West Ham on this occasion. Kurt Zouma rose very early.

It's also been six games since Everton conceded the kickoff.

Did Silva find the defensive formula?

Four clean sheets out of five

Aside from a crazy half hour against Newcastle a few weeks ago, Everton seems to be coming back to his best using Marco Silva's formula. Indeed, since the extended break played by the Blues in mid-February, Everton conceded only three times (all during the crazy moments in Newcastle.

That made four draws in five games, which is even more impressive considering the draws against Liverpool and Chelsea, as well as a difficult draw with West Ham.

Youngster continues to improve

Dominic Calvert-Lewin led the line perfectly against the Hammers, holding the ball well, winning three heads and sending six shots.

While the youth is good in the air, harvests the defenders well and has great athletic abilities, the big area he needs to improve is decision making. When he has time to play in a dangerous zone, he too often chooses the wrong option. But if he manages to improve in this regard, as well as his ranking, he could become an excellent Premier League striker.

A midfield duo controls the match

Although Idrissa Gueye has been particularly fit lately, it was good to see André Gomes regain his best.

The duo completely dominated West Ham in the middle of the game, with Gueye completing 85.4 percent of his pbades, while Gomes completed an impressive 87.3 percent of his teammates.
