Seven suspected illegal juveniles were arrested Thursday by Vanguard Operation personnel in the Ashanti region.

The suspects, two Chinese and five local, were apprehended during two separate patrols conducted Thursday in the districts of Atwima Mponua and Central Amansia.

Commander Andy Sowatey, Vanguard's public relations officer, on Friday handed over to the Ghana News Agency the statements of two Chinese nationals, Li Chengchan, 34, and Liang Yao Ying, 47, arrested in the general area of ​​Akonfrim and Afipaye. were submitted to the Interdepartmental Committee on Illegal Mining for action.

"A shotgun, which was in their possession, had been brought to the forefront of operations in the Ashanti region.

"The other arrest of the five residents took place in the Aketekyieso region.

"The suspects are currently under the custody of Obuasi Central Police waiting to be treated," the statement said.
