Organizers and some of the main organizers of the #FixTheCountry protest on Thursday August 5, 2021 called Acting Inspector General of Police George Akuffo Dampare following Wednesday’s peaceful protest.
After several weeks of delay due to a standstill in the courts, the much-anticipated #FixTheCountry protest finally saw the light of day yesterday when dozens of Ghanaians from all walks of life took to the streets of Accra to demand better from the government.
On that day, protesters received protection and guidance from the Ghana Police Service without any recorded violence issues.
Today, at the police headquarters in the capital, some leaders of the #FixTheCountry movement met with acting IGP George Akuffo Dampare.
During the meeting, Mr. Kumi Danso, who is one of the organizers, took turns with other members to express their appreciation for the level of professionalism and respect for human rights demonstrated by the officers during the demonstration.
For its part, the interim IGP also congratulated the organizers for the smooth running of the event and made sure that all those who took part in the exercise behaved.
IGP George Akufo Dampare further emphasized: “Our doors are always open, we are your friends, therefore, let’s work together to make our nation a safer place to live.”
