The deputy director general of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Abu Ramadan, revealed that 16 communities in the northeast region have been affected by the floods so far.
The severely affected communities are located in Yagaba Moaduri district in the North East region.
The flood destroyed agricultural land and the properties of the inhabitants of the district.
According to him, officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) were sent to Moaduri district to assess the situation.
“We have our leaders in each area, so an assessment was done and the area was tasked with taking care of the communities that were cut so that relief items could be sent to them. ”
He said NADMO is trying to manage the impact of flood waters and is trying to reconnect isolated communities to society.
Mr Ramadan revealed that they visited the Zipline drone center in the region to discuss how isolated communities can access medicines at health centers in the region.
“From our discussion with Zipline, they have enough medicine to get to any affected community in the area and they are ready to give us their full support. So we asked our District Directors to advise all District Health Directors to contact Zipline. ”
The deputy director general of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) feared that the Bagre Dam spill was near because with the continued rainfall, the levels of the Bagre Dam would have been raised and ready to overflow.
“If we were to have continuous rains, we would have to review the Bagre Dam spill within a week, but hopefully we don’t get to the point where the dam spill occurs.”
Mamprugu Moagduri District Director General Abu Adam told reporters that not all isolated communities have access to the district capital for any economic activity.
“As you know, Rita1 communities come to the district capital to sell and buy food, but as we speak, they cannot go anywhere where the place has been cut.”
He said the construction of the main bridge in the district has been submerged by flooding and called for the urgent completion of the bridge, otherwise flooding will occur every year.
“I therefore appeal to the authorities to review the construction work on the Loagri-Sakpaba road.
He noted, however, that NADMO had sensitized the district before the Bagre dam spilled, adding that emergency aid had been organized in the event of a disaster to come to the aid of the victims.

Mr. Ramadan encouraged committee members to take their responsibilities seriously for the good of the region.
The Northeast Regional Disaster Platform and Management Committee are made up of the regional minister, heads, MMDCEs, heads of regional security forces, media, medical team leaders, among others. .
