English football captain Harry Kane is keen to end his career in the United States, scoring goals on the pitch for an NFL team.

Kane, top scorer of the FIFA World Cup last year, has long admired American football and thinks that changing sports late in his career will help him get into the story in as one of the greatest sportsmen of all time.

The course of European football in the United States is very popular. David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard are all in the American MLS, but Kane wants to chart his own path.

"(The desire to play in the NFL) is real," said the Tottenham striker at ESPN.

"(That's) something I absolutely want to try in 10 or 12 years.

"If you play in the Premier League and World Cup and then play in the NFL, would you then be considered one of the greatest sportsmen of all time?"

"This brings us back to the desire to be the best.Although I download a game on my phone, can I be the best in the world?"

Kane is a New England Patriots quarterback fan, Tom Brady, and was at the Super Bowl this year as the 41-year-old won his sixth title.

"We had similar doubts when we were younger, maybe we are not the best athletes as kids," Kane said.
