BERLIN: Michael Zorc, sports director of Borussia Dortmund, said the talisman Marco Reus would stay at the club until the end of his career.

"Marco is someone who identifies with the club and has strong roots in Dortmund," Zorc told Sport Bild on Wednesday (20 March).

"I can not imagine that he will play one day for another club."

Reus, 29, scored on Saturday against Hertha Berlin to keep Dortmund tied with Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga leader.

One of the most experienced players of the young Dortmund team, the German international is expected to play a key role as the title race enters the decisive phase.

On Wednesday, Bild announced that Reus had delivered a glowing speech to the team after Dortmund's defeat by the Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur.

"Marco has matured as a person and he badumes more responsibilities than before, on and off the field," Zorc said.

"He has natural authority and he is becoming more and more important to us."

Dortmund hopes Reus, who was out for three weeks due to a sore hamstring injury, earlier this year, will be able to stay in shape for the rest of the title.

It is also feared that personal reasons will disrupt the role of Reus in the title race.

His partner, the German model Scarlett Gartmann, is currently eight months pregnant. The girl, the first child of the couple, must arrive the weekend even when Dortmund will go to Munich for its very important confrontation with Bayern on April 6th.
