Football: rivalries between clubs will not divide English side, says Kane

According to Captain Harry Kane, the spirit of England's team, Gareth Southgate, has helped players in competing clubs put aside their rivalries when they show up for duty national.

England begins its qualifying campaign for Euro 2020 against the Czech Republic this Friday, March 22 at Wembley stadium and travels to Montenegro three days later, while several Southgate players compete for trophies at club level.

Club rivalries have contributed to the failure of England in major tournaments in the past. Former Rio Ferdinand players Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard revealed how the factions were formed when players ran for the job.

"We've heard about things that happened in the past – people sitting at different tables and teams in division," Kane, Tottenham Hotspur striker, told the press.

"We put that aside and even with Liverpool and the Manchester City Boys when we are here, it's 100% in England, that's part of our success."

City and Liverpool are in a race for the Premier League title and are two of four English clubs in the quarterfinals of the Champions League this season alongside Manchester United and Tottenham.

"I'm sure when we go back to clubs, there will be a lot of text messages and group messages," Kane added. "We have a very strong connection here and at the end of the day, we are all good friends, whether we play for one club or another.

"When we are back in our clubs, victory is there, but we respect each other so we can talk to each other and be friends."
