MILAN (AFP) – The season of Italian international midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura was interrupted as he was declared offside until nine months after a knee surgery, his AC Milan club reported on Tuesday (November 27th).
In the United States, the 29-year-old underwent a procedure to repair a left knee cartilage problem.
"Giacomo Bonaventura was operated on the left knee osteochondral lesion," said the Serie A group in a statement.
He added: "(The procedure) was successful and the recovery time is estimated at eight to nine months".
Bonaventura has scored three goals in eight league games this season for Milan, but has been out of action since the Europa League's 2-1 loss to Real Betis at San Siro on 25 October.
Milan is fifth on the board, 15 points behind Juventus leaders.
