The 35-year-old man was arrested after an unsuccessful suicide attempt in Parliament
The 35-year-old man who attempted to commit suicide in parliament on Thursday, June 13, 2019 apologized to President Nana Akufo-Addo, the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye, as well as to the 275 deputies and throughout the country.
Kojo Mensah told GhOne TV: "I want to apologize, especially to my MP; I'm sorry for everything I did, I did it out of frustration. "
"I wish to apologize to the members of Parliament, the President and the President of the Republic of Ghana and [all] Ghanaians, "he added, explaining:" I'm really sorry for what happened because what led me to [attempt suicide in parliament] was … frustration. "
"I could not hold myself back, I wanted my government to help me and everything I tried failed.
Mr. Mensah was arrested by Parliament's Protection Unit as he was attempting to jump from the public gallery during the hearing.
He wore a brand-name t-shirt of the nuclear power plant with the effigy of Kwesimintsim MP Joe Mensah.
