The newly retired retiree says his former manager was not himself at his bad luck at Old Trafford
Glenn Johnson believes that the novelty factor of Jose Mourinho's "Special One" character has dissipated in England after his departure as manager of Manchester United.

And Johnson, who joined talkSPORT on Monday to announce his retirement from football, admits he seemed to be a different person this season at Old Trafford.
When asked how it was to play under Mourinho, the former Chelsea defender – the club's first rookie under Roman Abramovich – told Jim White: "As soon as he has crossed the door, he was fantastic.
"He's been great with the players, but if you're not on the team, those are the ones who will argue with him. For the main team, however, it would be a jewel for which to work.
"I thought it was awesome, we got along well. In the last six months, I have not played too much, so the relationship has not been as good as it was in the beginning, but it's football.
Johnson joined Chelsea from West Ham in 2003 and won the Premier League and League Cup during his stay there.
"He would have had contact with big players and media guys, everyone loved him.
"When all this was new, fresh and different at the time, people liked it, whereas now, they could start to get a little bored.
"And then, when he does something that does not look like him, people have the opportunity to jump him."
Johnson added that he felt Mourinho looked "exhausted" during his unfortunate spell at Old Trafford, although the manager still has a lot to offer at the top level.
A number of Man United players criticized by Mourinho during his tenure as boss have improved rapidly since his departure.
"It was a little strange and almost a little different from him really [at Manchester United], Said the former British international.
"For whatever reason, whether we know it or not, something just did not click and I do not think he was as happy as he could have been.
"He fell a little out of reach.
"But I think we'll see him come back and I hope so too. He still has a lot to offer in the game. "
