Kofi Stephen, an unemployed 26-year-old, is expected to spend the next eight years in jail for stealing mobile phones and other items belonging to four residents of Atonsu, in the central district of Sekyere.

This is the second time in four years that the accused is serving a prison sentence for a similar offense.

It is said that he went on a stolen trip on May 30, 2019 between 23:30 and the dawn of May 31, 2019.

He pleaded guilty to six counts of illegal entry and theft and was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment for each of the counts of indictment.

The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Peter Konlan, told the Nsuta Circuit Court, headed by Lydia Osei Marfo, that the accused, on May 30, 2019, around 11:30 pm, had entered the premises illegally. of four plaintiffs and stole their property, including: three mobile phones, a powerful set-top box and a flashlight, valued at GHS450.

According to the Prosecutor, while he was leaving the first applicant's room with his booty, he stepped on a girl (undisclosed name) who was sleeping on the floor.

The accused fled to three other locations, broke into the rooms and took away three cell phones and a flashlight, the prosecutor said.

But the accused, who was sighted in Nsuta on May 31, 2019 around 8:30, was arrested and handed over to the Atonsu police with stolen items concealed in a sack of rice.

The police have since recovered the objects.

Stephen in his statement of warning to the police admitted the offense.
