Coronation StreetAudrey Roberts had a little fun in the past at the British Soap Awards of 2019.
At the ceremony tonight (June 1st), star Sue Nicholls won the Outstanding Achievement Award and naturally went on stage to collect the trophy.
However, while she was finishing her speech, host Phillip Schofield interrupted him to reveal that someone had sent him a very special message.
Sir Ian McKellen in the character of Mel Hutchwright / Lionel Hipkiss sending his congratulations.
"Hello, my dear Audrey, it's Mel, remember?" he started. "It's been a century since I've been sitting in your chair in your living room … but I still hear the clipper's claw slicing off near my follicles.
"In fact, I will never forget those magical moments of pbadion: share a joke in the back room of Rovers Return and leave you without legs on the cobblestones."

He later added: "I hear congratulations, it's normal! I'm only sorry I can not be with you tonight, anyway, my love, you're having a wonderful evening."
Home viewers were certainly amazed at the return of the acting legend:
If you remember, the the Lord of the Rings The star came on the soap opera for a brief stint along the way in 2005, in a scenario involving Audrey.
A few years ago, Sir Ian reflected on his time Corrie, admitting that it had remained to him and that he "had a balloon".
"I loved them all, they were very friendly," he said.
