Former Home and Away star Mat Stevenson appeared on The Sunday Project this weekend with her transgender daughter Grace Stevenson.

The actor, who appeared on the soap opera in the ’90s, reminded co-host Lisa Wilkinson of his friends’ reactions to learning that his son was in transition.

Mat said while some were ‘fairly consistent’ and ‘understood’ others struggled, simply asking them to love his daughter and ’empathize’.

Grace knew she was meant to be male from the age of ‘four or five’ and began her transition at the age of 12.
