Former Man City boss puts Frank Lampard on guard against Chelsea post

Stuart Pearce warned Frank Lampard of Chelsea's role as director, saying the timing was propitious for him.

It is expected that Maurizio Sarri will leave the Blues this summer with a move to Juventus, leaving the west side of London with a vacant managerial position.

It is thought that Lampard is one of the pioneers of the role after a successful first season in management that saw him guide Derby County towards the playoff finals.

It was a campaign that showed Chelsea legendary references as a manager, but speaking in Sky Sports News, Stuart Pearce said it may be a bit premature to move to Stamford Bridge.

He said: "I think he could do more with experience, he had a wonderful first season in Derby.

"Entering the Premier League will not disturb him in any way, he has a very relaxed and focused mentality.

"But it 'sa hard job, embargo on transfers, your best player has just been sold.

"It's very similar to the situation I had when I arrived in Manchester City: no funding available, Shaun Wright-Phillips was sold very early in my tenure, he has a similar kind of things with the departure of Hazard I think it will be a really hard job, especially if they expect it to be difficult for the title.

"Somewhere in the future, Frank will be a top manager worthy of taking over at Chelsea, whether this summer or elsewhere, who knows?

"The timing might be right about that [the youth players]Jody knows the academic system very well and if you can only group these players because of the embargo, that might be another reason to put Frank and Jody on the job. "
