FNicky Butt, a British footballer from Manchester United, has been arrested for badual badault following an incident at a house in Hale today.
Police were called to the Broadway site around 2 pm this afternoon to announce that a woman had been badaulted.
The woman received a small cut in the hand and did not need hospital care.
The Greater Manchester police would only confirm that a 44-year-old man was arrested for alleged badault and that he is still in custody for questioning.
But we understand that the arrested man is Butt.
The former midfielder, who has played 270 games with Old Trafford and won 39 caps for England, is currently in charge of training at United's youth academy. He is part of the famous "Clbad of 92" and is also co-owner of Salford City.
A GMP representative said: "A 44-year-old man suspected of badault has been arrested and remains in detention for questioning.
"Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact the police at 101, quoting reference number 1086 of 16/04/19 or the independent Crimestoppers charity, anonymously, at 0800 555 111."
