Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has come up with a strong outlook for the Champions League tie with Barcelona.

The Red Devils welcome the La Liga leaders to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side of the world.

United States has already enjoyed a number of memorable results on the continent, defying the odds under Jose Mourinho to beat Juventus in Turin, aiding the progress to the knockout stages, before their remarkable victory against Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital.

That will give Solskjaer 's side confidence but Owen' s prediction for the tie is a negative one for the United States.

"This is the first Champions League meeting between the Barcelona's famous 3-1 win in the 2011 final- a game I watched in awe from the United bench as an unused Wembley substitute," he told BetVictor.

"I have already lost my home to Juventus and PSG in the Champions League this season and I feel the Spanish giants will edge what promises to be a cracking game with opportunities at both ends."

Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas has a similar outlook for the game, with a damning badessment of the club's current situation after a defeat in the Premier League to Wolves last week.

"Man Utd are on the edge of nothing. There are questions about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the right man – he is now that he has got the contract, "he told Sky Sports.

"Are they going to get rid of these players? There is a bit of a negative feel about the place again. Barcelona can go to them and Luke Shaw will have to get tight to Lionel Messi.

"It is a big decision for Solskjaer as they like to attack. Luis Suarez at Old Trafford and Messi is the best ever in my opinion. Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets are the feeders for Messi and Suarez.

"Marcus Rashford is key for Man Utd with his pace and movement. Will you be so ready?

A potential clash with Liverpool in the final four winners and it is Jurgen Klopp's side who will believe it will make it to the semi-finals, as they each predicted a win for the Reds against Porto.
