Accra, July 12, GNA – Former President John
Dramani Mahama and his wife, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, were registered on the website
National Identity Register on Tuesday, July 9th.

They were then issued with Ghana
While other members of his household and office staff were also
registered for the card and issued with Ghana Cards at its cantonment is
Office.

Former President Mahama took the opportunity to
emphasize the importance of the Ghana map for the development of the nation and
describes the recording exercise as a non-partisan process in which all
Ghanaians must participate easily.

He urged Ghanaians to "go out there and
sign up for the Ghana Card ".

The Executive Secretary of the National
Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, Professor at the Identification Authority (NIA),
Registration Manager, led a team of registration officers and NIA members
executives to undertake the exercise.

Speaking after the exercise, Professor Ken
Attafuah expressed gratitude for the warm welcome given to the team and
noted that, like other past presidents, the NIA was happy to register
President Mahama at his convenience.

Professor Attafuah took advantage of the opportunity to
touch the immense features of the Ghana Card, which is a modern map,
Versatile, intelligent biometric identity card with dual interface and solid security
features, as well as the various mandatory uses of the card.

As a mark of honor and respect, the NIA has
previously granted the same courtesies to other former presidents of the
nation, namely, Flt. Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor.
