Samia Suluhu Hassan made history as Tanzania’s first female president.
Ms. Samia was sworn in by Chief Justice Ibrahim Juma at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
She becomes the sixth president of Tanzania after the death of President John Pombe Magufuli on Wednesday from heart complications.
The 61-year-old was President Magufuli’s deputy from 2015 until his death.
Tanzania’s constitution says she must serve her last five-year term.
