The Central Regional Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the theft of a baby in Asebu, in the central region.

The fourth; Maxwell Otoo, Florence Eshun, Jariah Abubakar and Monica Asare were arrested separately in connection with the theft of a child.

In an interview with Citi News, DSP Irene Oppong, a member of the Central Regional Police PRO, explained that on April 10, 2019, Comfort Fenyi, a 23-year-old badfeeding mother, reported to the police of Abakrampa that She had left her baby one month old from a woman she did not know but whom she could identify.

She went to buy medicine in a pharmacy before returning to find out that the woman had run away with her baby.

According to the police, the police arrested and arrested Maxwell Otoo in Asebu, a suburb of Cape Coast.

He admitted to helping two other people steal the baby.

"During the interrogations, Maxwell Otoo confessed to helping two other people steal the baby," said DSP Irene Oppong.

The police's public relations officer also said the suspect Maxwell Otoo had again served as a lure and had led the police to arrest Jariah Abubakar and Monica Asare in Nyinasin and Abura respectively.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that Florence Eshun, a woman unable to have children, had approached the suspect Maxwell Otoo in Asebu and had implored her to help foil a nursing mother and to steal his baby so that he can save his marriage.

Preliminary investigations again revealed that the suspect Florence Eshun, on April 10, 2019, had gone to Cape Coast and returned with the suspicious Monica Asare, who had introduced herself as a nurse to the complainant.

DSP Irene Oppong said that Monica Asare, who claimed to be a nurse, gave the complainant Comfort Fenyi GHc10 and begged her to let her carry her baby while buying a cream to apply to her skin.

"Comfort Fenyi came out of the race only to find out that the woman had run away with her baby," said Irene Oppong.

The two suspects Florence Eshun and Monica Asare, after reaching their goal, fled in a taxi to Abura, a suburb of Cape Coast.

While in Abura, Florence Eshun paid 200 GHC to Monica Asare and took the baby to Jariah Abubakar in Nyinasin to look after her, the preliminary investigation revealed.

DSP Irene Oppong explained that investigations were underway and that the suspects would soon be brought before the court to answer the charges.
